As we already said plenty of times, choosing the right path can be very hard. Picking the correct bachelor’s degree is the first step to start building your future. At this point of life, students need to consider a bunch of factors before making such a tough decision.
Since we were little, everyone, including teachers and adults, used to ask who we would have wanted to be in the future. All of us immediately began to think about the simplest things we liked: animals, favourite movies, songs…
We used to imagine a “dream life” that, of course, shaped and grew during the years. Based on what we were passionate about, we picked an ideal career that could fit our interests.
From my experience, I have never had a dream job. I remember starting developing an overall idea of my future by studying and by informing about potential degrees. I also began thinking about what topics I like to talk about and what I am good at. For instance, I am good at maintaining conversations with people and helping them. I have always liked to be informed about what is going on in the world and talk about fields like politics. Additionally, I started maturing an interest in subjects like philosophy and history.
Even if I still didn’t pick the right degree for me, now I have the tools to choose it. Thinking about the little me reminded me of the importance of considering the easiest things. We should reflect more on our past decisions. They were based on what truly means: the little habits that we like. Therefore, sometimes the answer is so easy that we didn’t even realize it.

I will give you some advice to help you acquire the instruments to select the right university course. These tips will also be useful to me, since they are a reminder also to myself for my future career decisions.
- Define your dream life: start envisioning the life you want in the future and the lifestyle you will want to undertake.
- Little you reminder! Identify your strengths and interests, since your degree should align with what you enjoy and what you are naturally good at. A first tip is to think about you as a child and what you liked to do. Often the truth is hidden in the simplest and truest things. The method we used as children to identify our dream job we can still use now given its efficiency. Examples of questions you can ask yourself are: what subjects excite me the most? What activities make me lose track of time?
- Match your personality! Different careers suit different personalities and character traits. Some people have an analytical mind, others can be creative thinkers. Identifying the type of intelligence you have helps you begin to rule out certain university addresses for sure.
- Guidance! It is completely normal to feel lost to choose a degree alone as a student. The smartest action someone could undertake is seeking guidance and network by talking to professionals, career counselors, or experts in your desired field.

Choosing the right bachelor’s degree is not just about selecting a career-it is about shifting the life you want to have. By reflecting experiences and passions, you can gain insights into what truly excites you. It is common to feel uncertain about such a big decision, but you are not alone. Relying on people that have experience can help you navigate in this unknown field. The path to your dream life starts with this decision, so it is essential to remember that sometimes the answers are hidden in the simplest of things, like childhood dreams or everyday passions.
